a feast to my eyes

it was a stressful and tiring past weeks for my husband despite the luxury of working from home. working incessantly with his project from morning 'til almost midnight. he thought of taking a short trip outside Los Angeles county and we decided to explore California that i so love. there are tons of reasons why i fell in love with this state and after the recent drive, i fell hard even more. the only reason to flinch i could think of about Cali is the infamous Andrea's fault. i could definitely point finger with fierce eyes that the andrea thingy ruined it all. but that is an intrinsic nature that no soul can defy. life ends in various ways and there is no escape where ever you live so that fault never moved me :) we started taking off around 10 am, freeway 405 was quite gracious to us which you won't find most of the time. i should very well know from having a four long years of "passing" relationship with it when i was working in the valley, indisputably ain't good!. while on the road we decided to have lunch at woodranch restaurant in Camarillo city. after the satisfying chow we headed off to the city of Goleta, where the hotel was. i let my hubby take a good nap since he deserved every second of it. he's a bit feverish too so he needs all that. he would've slept through and through but he wants me to see the sunset. so we immediately run off and drove after to where the sunset was most visible. i was giving up already that we wont be able to make it but hubby it quite vehement that we will and he really wanted me to see it and so at last we captured that last minutes of it at the state beach next to UCSB... it was divine!. we stayed for awhile just chit chatting and walking around then we head to Holdren's for dinner with cocktails and my syrah red.

we woke up in a rainy sunday morning, it was a bummer because we are heading to a vineyard in Los Olivos, a town next to Goleta in the valley of Santa Ynez. we were still upbeat when we started taking off. who wouldn't be? the scenery itself is enough for me to say that it was a worthwhile trip. seeing the ocean in the left and hills on the right side of the road are a feast in my eyes. low and behold the rain stopped! few minutes before we arrive in Firestone Vineyard! the day was saved for us, selfishly. we tasted variety of reds before we had the tour in the winery. after attending several wine tastings in the past, our palates favor for syrah/shiraz and cabernet sauvignon only. the vineyward was beautiful! i could just imagine if it's in season which falls around april to first week of august. we drove back home with a quick stop in Solvang and... a happy heart. it was a good weekend spent with nature and my love one.
